Artist Statement

This 24” by 36” composition is a demonstration of the 2D physical art skills that I have purused during my education at Montana State. This portrait was an exploration of mark making techniques, layering, and color. By taking inspiration from German Expressionist painters, such as Kirchner, I explored layering of color and bold outlines. Through the use of pen and oil pastel, the portrait displays a dynamic composition, unique mark making, and color theory.
